Terroir was performed as part of The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's New Season. New Season is a series of four new writing shows, with a focus on current issues and collaboration.
NEW:21 TERROIR
Terroir takes glimpse into our future at the imminent danger of rising sea levels and global warming. The decisions and lifestyle of a group of friends, in a pub in west wales, will impact on the lives of their children and many generations to come. Will community be their light in the darkness, or will it be their undoing?
My role on the production was Set & Costume designer. I designed the show alongside The Electric, the other New season show on in the Sherman Studio, for which I was designing the set. The two shows were in rep, with a run of four shows each, switching out each day.
In 2021 the New Season productions were written, produced and performed during Covid. The 12 week production, rehearsal and performance period were all undertaken during the third lock-down following strict RWCMD Covid safety rules (contact RWCMD for details). This brought with it a whole host of new challenges and restrictions; but also, it created new shapes in the brief to bounce off of and jump start my creative problem solving.
